The 32nd World Habitat Day is here and we are excited for the chance to talk about it! This is the day we reflect on how far we’ve brought our living spaces and, imagine the development that is due in the years to come...

The year’s World Habitat Day focused our thought on making the cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable [SDG 11]. At WEGoT, we discussed how our history of attempts at sustainability could further improve the living conditions of every human alive. Possible? Yes. But there is a long way to go.

Right off the bat we saw that through water management alone, we could contribute to the resilience and safety of our homes. Our VenAqua sensors have always been down to lend a reliable hand to monitor the progress of wastewater management. It is the confidence of occupying a habitat known to be healthy that is key to making progress in our homes. And it is such healthy homes using key resources reliably, that is key to progressing in real estate development.

This leads us to the crux: The current scope for growth in water management is directly linked to making more inclusive habitats; As proven by this simple statement:

A resource well-managed leaves more for others

A cycle of sustainability with the management of water, right from the source till the waste, is still a very hopeful possibility in 2018. We are quite possibly sitting on the solution to affordable & sustainable homes of the future. With the government’s help, and yours, we can still live this in our time; by making the concept of sustainable habitats more than a basic human right; by making it a necessity for human survival.

We’ve come a long way from the caves and there are generations to go before we have floating cities. Perhaps a sustainable habitat is a key focus we can seed in our generation.

Congratulations to the winners of the UN Habitat Scroll Of Honour, 2018!
